Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Alain P — 19 Jul 2007
Very nice film. I like how they kept all their Hungarian names when they adapted it from the play, and both Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan play well off each other. And the fellow actors along side all pull good performances.
Very entertaining romantic comedy, and a festive movie for the holidays. I'm glad I haven't seen the revamped "modernized" version, "You've Got Mail" because it probably was blah.
(As most "modernized" remakes are.).
