Review of The Shipping News (2001) by Jennifer B — 23 Jul 2007
I wasn't impressed with the first 10 minutes or so, but it was necessary for the rest of the story. There are a number of small tales amidst this one story, making a haunting atmosphere with a tinge of mystery, but only if you are interested in small town lore will you appreciate this often sad story.
You can tell it is missing some to it's storyline; while it was well done as a movie, there must be a novel that was more richly produced before which they cut down on in order to make the film.
