Review of The Shipping News (2001) by Rick L — 12 Apr 2008

I haven't read the book - but enjoyed the complexity of the characterization, there was no attempt to make you "like" the characters: you grew to like them on their own terms. Dry in its humour and ravishingly stark in its photography this is a memorable film that perhaps will be a bit cold for some.
