Huge impact on first viewing given I saw it in a small closed hotel in winter as a teenager. While it is an exceptional piece of cinema with the full force of Kubrick's visual genius on display and Nicholson's now iconic depiction, this just doesn't live up to the pure potential of the best novel King ever wrote.
