Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Bernadette K — 09 Jan 2015
Unbelievable that anybody could give this a 'bad' review. Yes, if it wasn't to your taste, but to say it is a sh*t movie (whilst at the moment, of placing this review, 'how to train a dragon 2' has a 92% vote, up one percent to this one???!!!), just tells us how new generations are coming, and things are a changing.
For anyone to say this is not a brilliant film, you've never read a good book. and gone to bed sad because you want to know the ending. f*k all of these 1 and a half hour 'blockbusters' that involve big names, big music and BUGGER all else. this is a goddamn epic storyline with loveable characters, and NO it doesn't leave you with any misconception that somehow, just because we start to 'like' these characters, that they are somehow innocent of their crimes. Its called spinning a good yarn. telling a tale that people actually want to hear. and having everyone riveted to the end.
So to the numpties saying that this is an 'overrated' film. I will say the usual. 'i would like to see you do better'. and, 'no, it will never, ever happen'. masterpieces don't come often. Sure, movies come out every couple of months that 'sell out' and 'make a killing'. But none of them, have I ever watched more than 20 times.
