Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by Shaun D — 17 Mar 2018
This movie is an interesting attempt to mingle disparate genres: a fantasy creature and fairy-tale-love story arc, cold-war intrigue, and a modern take on the faults of early 1960s white all-americanism.
The result is an interesting blend of tropes, but, unfortunately, for me it lacked the feeling of having created something really novel through the effort. Oh well, the plot is still nicely woven together and the performances are good.
