Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by Dubeau — 04 Mar 2018
This a love movie, but also an allegory about isolation and loneliness. The story has one fantastic element, but apart that everything feels almost grounded. Really love the actors in this movie. They were amazing.
The creature effects are spot on. Now for the parts I didn't like...the creature felt like recycling the idea of Abe in Hellboy. At least it's in another context and time frame. The pace of the movie is slow, so I got really bored in the middle of the movie and I skipped a lot after that.
I think the editing and the length could have been a bit more dynamic. The music is also an era style of music that were found in old musical movies. I wasn't very found of it, but that depends of your taste in the genre.
Still, it was an interesting movie and a very nice tale. I give it a 75%. Go see it for the actors and their skills in that movie.
