Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by The3Academysins — 13 Dec 2017
The Shape of Water might be Guillermo Del Toro's best movie yet, and THAT is saying something. This film is an incredibly timely (and timeless!) ensemble-driven romance that takes place in such a fantastical world, but then you realize it is our world.
The performances are strong across the board with Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Doug Jones, Octavia Spencer, Michael Sthulbarg, and Richard Jenkins really shining. The score is incredible. The motiffs and themes and shots are so incredibly layered that you will find new things with this movie every time you watch it.
The Shape of Water is a must-see for film goers, a must-own for Del Toro fans, and a very strong Oscar Contender for 2017.
