The Shallows is beautifully shot, though you might think you're watching a music video half the time, and has a strong lead performance by Blake Lively. It also requires a lot of suspension of disbelief, but even if you go with it, The Shallows has a hard time maintaining tension as well as our interest for an hour and a half.
