The movie The Shallows was a good movie until about the last 10 minutes. I liked the movement of the film and the director Jaume Collet-Serra was doing a good job with different camera shots and the music was amazing to adding suspense to the different scenes. Blake Lively was very good and it is tough to play a movie where for the majority you are by yourself with no help. At times she got a little annoying. The addition of the bird was key and it brings a little comfort to the audience knowing she is not really alone. Overall I liked the movie until the ending, the ending of the movie was terrible, it was too fast and very unrealistic.

The Shallows is a movie about a girl named Nancy(Blake Lively) who runs into a problem with a shark while surfing. Throughout the movie different problems pop up with the shark and she has to get through them by herself.

Blake Lively was a very satisfying character to watch. Her physique and body are very easy on the eyes and I had no trouble paying attention to her.The locals played exactly the part they were supposed to. They did not have a big role but they were there. The drunk man played his part pretty well. Overall I feel that the characters that the movie chose were very well fitted for their respective parts.

The effects used in her injuring with everything were amazing very lifelike. The shark was also very cool to watch it was very lifelike. The way it swam and the aerial shots of the shark were very cool. If I could make one adjustment I would maybe not make the shark so big, I mean the thing was massive. The music was terrific and it matched up very well with the scenes that were happening. The camera angle from under water were amazing and fun to watch. When she was going out to surf and she kept going under it felt like you were right under her.

Adding to the points above the slow shots built a lot of suspense in their respective parts. The screens when she was on her phone was a cool effect to add. It added something interesting to an otherwise boring part of the movie when she was on her phone. Just like the screen when the watch popped up and told you how much time she had that was cool because it built even more suspense to the scene. As the time kept dwindling down in your head you are thinking is she going make it ? The sounds when the shark bites down on her leg create that cringing feeling and you don't want to watch but you can't take your eyes off the screen. Overall the music and special effects in this movie were top notch. They really helped the movie and the plot move along smoothly and keep the audience's attention.

This movie is a good movie but I would not recommend it to others. The ending let me down so much to the point that the whole movie was ruined for me. I was enjoying myself until that point. You also knew she was going to make it the movie was very predictable and for these two reasons I would not recommend going to see it in theatres.
