Review of The Shallows (2016) by Jordan J — 04 Jun 2017
I really wasn't expecting much from this movie. I mean the only reason why I saw it was because it was the only movie out at the time. I'd already seen everything else so I said why not. I went into this not expecting much at all.
I thought it was a copy of jaws. But no I was wrong. This was actually a pretty good movie. There was some good suspense and some scenes that made me jump a little bit. This movie doesn't really have a story other than survival.
A girl is surfing with some people then she gets stuck on a rock with a shark roaming around her area. No one is around her so she has to do her best with what she has. It's pretty simple. I came out of the theater really surprised with this movie.
I was just impressed. This movie went over my expectations. This wasn't the best movie I had seen that summer but it definitely was no where near a bad movie. This was a pretty good flick worth seeing.
I'd say this was a gem. It's sad that it didn't get much attention. Overall this was a pretty good flick. It reminded me of jaws because I felt like it bothered some stuff from it. This movie was kind of forgettable but it's still worth watching.
B+.
