Review of The Shaggy Dog (2006) by James S — 19 May 2010
Watched this the other day for the heck of it. Moderately entertaining for what it is, but a lot of it falls flat and it's extremely predictable (which is partly the result of it being a remake). Tim Allen is ok in this movie when he's actually a human.
...but whoever came up with his dialogue for when he's a dog needs to go back to screenwriting classes. Ugh. Lastly, I suppose I need to comment on Robert Downey Jr's performance. It's...not that great.
It's basically some weird twilight zone version of his Iron Man character (complete with all the fast-talking smoothness). I hope his propensity for the rapid-fire dialogue doesn't get overly played out the way that Vince Vaughn has over the years.
...it can start to get annoying when that's all they can do!
