Review of The Seven Year Itch (1955) by Jason G — 04 Mar 2012
This movie is almost too perfect. Tom Ewell was born to play Richard Sherman and Marilyn Monroe, as The Girl, was something today's actresses need to aspire to.
The combination of Ewell and Monroe, in the midst of hot New York as they playfully skirt (no pun intended) around the issue of the seven year itch, is as perfect as Monroe and Russell. Ewell tries to balance being a 'grass widow' with the arrival of his upstairs neighbor, who has unwittingly taken his attention.
Overall, this a light hearted comedy that takes a look at a married man with a seven year itch, who is put into a couple of very precarious situations.
