Review of The Seven Year Itch (1955) by Sandra D — 11 May 2008
I watch this eveytime it's on. It's still one of the funniest movies I could watch. Tom Ewell is hilarious and it's disappointing that this is, pretty much, the only major movie he ever made.
Marilyn Monroe gets a lot of shit, but for me, her performing this role was truely artistic. She's a wonderful parody of the blonde whom everyone would love to consider merely ditzy, but the truth is she either doesn't care, or doesn't care to notice how people think she should be treated.
For me, this character is sort of beautifully poetic, the world would like to consider her its sex object, but she's as innocent as a child.
