Review of The Seven Year Itch (1955) by Alison P — 24 Jun 2008
Marilyn's a doll in this pleasant enough but overwhelmingly misogynistic comedy.
The main character thinks his wife is worried about his propensity to cheat because she is getting older (ohmygod 31!) while he looks like he did when they got married 7 years ago. He muses that her looks will fade and that she is probably worried that he will be looking for younger women since men have no self control and women should just accept this.
Plus, vegetarians are portrayed as nudists who only drink sauerkraut cocktails and soybeans.
A must-see for all women with younger boyfriends. Honestly, it's a fun film if you can put aside the 1950s ideals and stereotypes.
