Review of The Seven Year Itch (1955) by Dan D — 10 Feb 2012
The Seven Year Itch fails, and it's failure is mainly due to an reprehensibly annoying lead character in Richard Sherman. He brings the film down, pins it, and beats it to a pulp. His paranoia, frantic imagination, and silly actions may be found amusing to some, but to me, I found it infuriating.
It's a shame, as the story is somewhat interesting, and actually had great potential. Unfortunately, it's squashed by this character. Oh, and it's not very funny. I barely laughed at all. It's disappointing, considering Billy Wilder's usually crisp and sharp writing.
