Review of The Seven Year Itch (1955) by Justin H — 12 Jul 2012
This film is an inconsistent effort to say the least. Marilyn Monroe steals every scene she is in and comes across as completely charming in her role as "The Girl". She's sweet, beautiful and stupid with a subtle underlying intellegence that never quite hits the surface.
Richard Sherman comes off as empathetic in one moment and downright predatorial in the next, as he persues an affair with "the girl" Despite genuinely funny scences such as his encounter with a psychiatrist, much of the film drags and becomes tedious.
Overall though it has the charm of the era and is worth checking out if you have a few hours to kill.
