Review of The Sessions (2012) by Fiona L — 02 Dec 2012
I must say, from the second this film began I was intrigued. I would have never thought that a story revolving around a paralyzed man (Mark) would ever be so intimate. As he comes to the last decade in his life, he begins to wonder how the sensation of intercourse feels.
After he seeks consultation and gets permission from a priest, he finds a sex therapist who is willing to show him how it truly feels. There is a lot of subtle humour, you will laugh, cry, and even cheer.
This very small film had me by the heart the whole way through. "The Sessions" is perfectly directed, very well written, even with a few questionable moments, and the acting is oscar worthy.
This is one of my favourite films of 2012!
