Review of The Serpent's Egg (1977) by Johnny S — 22 Oct 2011
It works on a very simplistic level with Carradine and Ullmann providing excellent performances as the troubled and volatile couple at the centre of a complex tale of political intrigue and German history.
Sadly, it lacks any real depth and even descends into all-out insanity towards the end, with this melodramatic weakness, it sadly avoids making any substantial observations about anything important or long-lasting.
Well directed and acted but lacking the substance usually so central to Bergman's work.
