Review of The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988) by James H — 06 Feb 2010
Zombies seem to be one of the most popular idea's in Horror today. But do most people know where Zombie lure came from? That's what the 1988 movie the Serpent and the Rainbow explains! Zombie lure come straight from Haiti, the premise of the film centers around an American Anthropologist (Bill Pullman)who is hired too travel too Haiti and find the zombie drug used by Voodoo priest that turn people into the living dead.
They want to aquire it so they can save lives in the operating room when people go under the knife. And zombies are not portrayed as mindless killing machines as seen in previous zombie movies. Like it says in the legend they are supposed to be bodies with out a soul.
This is a very scary film you just have to see it on what I am talking about. But the overall cast of actors are well hired. Wes Craven has very sharp direction on how too fool people on what's reality and what's not.
But it's a very well put together movie check it out!
