Review of The Sentinel (2006) by Josh G — 17 Aug 2009
In the Political thriller "The Setinel," Michael Douglas plays a veteran Secret Service Agent named Pete Garrison who took a bullet for Reagan in the 80's and still guards the President today.
In support of Douglas who does a good job in a role that he seems to play often is Kiefer Sutherland, playing Service Agent David Breckinridge and Eva Longoria playing rookie agent Jill Marin. Sutherland is also in his favorite role as an intense middle aged goverment agent who used to be friends with Douglass' character until he slept with his wife supposedly. Longoria does a decent job at the inexpierence top of the class green agent. Some of my favoirte scenes involve Longoria being hit on by other agents who find her attractive.
The problem I have with this movie is not the actors but more or less the plot being a tad far-fetched. I know your thinking in your head "Dude it's a friggin movie!" And I respect that, believe me I do. But still, for a movie like this that has been made a lot of times I prefer a little more variety and some more reality. I get it, there are psychotic loons in this country that want Presidents dead.
Make sure you pay extra attention to this thriller, many clues are thrown out in subtle ways. The first 1/3 of this movie had me hooked but after that it fell off the tracks in my opinion.
