Review of The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007) by Geo C — 19 Sep 2008
The film could've been good, but when compared to other fantasy/magical movies today, it falls a bit short. The cinematography and effects were actually really good, but the story dragged a little bit.
The Seeker, the actual character was meant to search for six signs, physical manifestations of the power of the light. The concept of the movie was good, but the details were just so wishy washy and rushed that it was really hard to concentrate on and enjoy the movie.
The six signs were hidden throughout time, but somehow were all hidden in the same little English village. One would think, if the power held in these artifacts was so great, then wouldn't they be hidden, not only in different eras, but also in different places? Also, aside from the title character, most of the other characters were poorly developed and so the whole story was met with a "so what?" kind of reaction.
The Seeker = watered down magical non-sci-fi kiddie version of the Fifth Element.
