Review of The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007) by Niklas J — 09 Feb 2013
Mediocre just about covers it. 100 minutes I won't get back. Christopher Eccleston hams it up as the villain (seems to be playing a deranged version of The Doctor), and the story... I don't know, it has promise but it's a mishmash of fantasy tropes that don't live up to the sum of its parts.
Modern fantasy cinema is in need of an 80s style injection of heart (the likes of Labyrinth, Neverending Story etc) - this lacks any emotive quantity whatsoever. At least the Harry Potter films were entertaining.
