Review of The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007) by Scott S — 17 Nov 2008

In all honesty I don't usually like these kinds of movies, but this is an exeption. It was full of spiritual aligories and I recently found out it was actually based off of a christian bok writen for that very purpose. God created all things to bring Him glory and praise, but Satan wants nothing better than to turn it all to darkness and shame. The protagonist in this film is "the seeker" simply because he is seeking signs in each element of nature, which contain great power to restore the light to the world. He finds all but one, which was hidden in the form of a human soul and could not be found. *spoiler warning!* Darkness almost prevails until suddenly, Will realizes that he himself is the last sign. Though the gospel is never openly spoken of in the story, it was so obvious to all of my family that we spontaniously started into devotions as soon as it was over. We can see God's glory all around us through His creation, but the real key to quonquoring Satan, lies with us when we surrender our will to His will (another thing I thought was cool was that the protagonist's name is "Will".) If Christ be for us, who can be against us??

Great movie. A must see for all over the age of 12, any younger may require a loving arm wrapped around them during the tense scenes.
