As another reviewer suggests, 'the little movie with a big heart.' As re-conceived from the book's plot by Miyazaki, this version of the Borrowers hinges on the dreams and helplessness and courage of both Arrietty and the boy Sean, both caught in situations forcing them to forge ahead into unknown futures.
Building a story around quiet moments of empathic connection between two characters who can never come together is a challenge few movie scripts attempt. Peter Jackson's King Kong is the only other I can think of.
Studio Ghibli is more than up to the challenge with their mastery of tiny world craftmanship.
