Review of The Secret World of Arrietty (2010) by Mapizarro — 27 Nov 2013
Studio Ghibli is synonymous with magic, great fantasy and philosophical and inside strength. "Spirited Away" is best, "How's Moving Castle" is better and "Ponyo" is good. "The Secret World of Arrietty" is like "Ponyo", good film but it is short of vigour and it promises more than it gives.
I think that this film, like "The Cat Returns" too, is overrated. Movies with local customs like "From Up on Poppy Hill" and "Only Yesterday" are more undervalued than "The Secret World of Arrietty".
"Arrietty" is okay but no more.
