When the Germans occupy the wine producing town of Santa Vittoria the main fear the town has is that the Germans will get their wine. This is what the Germans want. Under the direction of Umberto Bombolini the town folk hide the wine, then the Germans set about to find it.
All I've given away here is the set up. What follows is very funny and entertaining.
