Review of The Secret of Roan Inish (1994) by Christina C — 15 Mar 2008
A beautiful magical film: glorying both in the ethereal folklore (the storytelling sequences where we see the family's past are wonderful) and equally in the hearty, hardworking reality of life by and on the sea.
It's unabashedly dreamy without being corny, and with excellent performances by all and especially the child actors. Feel like I've been for a refreshing ride over the waves at sunset!
