Review of The Secret of NIMH (1982) by Barry N — 08 Apr 2011

This is probably one of the absolute darkest family films you will ever see, and that's why I think the film works so well. It actually manages to be dark, but not distrubing. The story is fantastic, the animation is very good, and the film is just extremely magical.

The film is captivating, and even has some nice comic relief moments to relieve some of the tension, but not enough that it completley assuages you. The characters are sometimes interesting and I had a little trouble with the fact that some of the characters are 1-dimmensional, but they are just secondary characters.

The main characters themselves are well developed and so I can't complain too much about that. Nothing more I can except, "What a great movie!".
