The ending is a tad underwhelming, but, I am cool with that. This films looks like no other animated film I have witnessed before. It's as if a hand drawn tapestry sprang to life before the camera's eye. The animation is fluid, and very exciting, with all the characters and buildings, and hell, everything, being very angled, and detailed, with all the backgrounds being home to several things.

The voice acting is great, and the music is very good. But the animation is where it's at.

I watched this with my 2 yr-old niece, and while there were a one or two moments where she got restless, this held her attention, in rapt, very well. She didn't understand (how could she), the religious iconography it was using, or how the "Eye" worked, or how the bad guys were, but she did now that the boy, the cat, and the girl were in trouble, and she was genuinely scared for them.

The buildup is marvelous, with a very cool monster, and some great themes of self sacrifice to help your friends, and again, it all looks absolutely wonderful, but the ending is rushed, and not given proper time to be fully felt. Despite this, I highly recommend this movie, mostly for the stunning visuals.
