I watched this film as a child and was captivated, it is the story of a young man who lives under the control of his mother and boss, and is often daydreaming - the daydream sequences showcase Danny Kaye's amazing comic talent, as well as vocal ability.

When the beautiful Virginia comes into his life he becomes involved in a web of mystery and murder, but finally squares up to the people in his life and gets the girl. Great film! Features the younger sister out of Gone with the wind in the role of walter mitty's girlfriend.
