Review of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947) by Daniel D — 21 Apr 2008
I read the book when I was younger, so this weekend, during an Orioles rain delay, I caught it on TCM. This movie is a visual treat with many different sets and costumes. Danny Kaye is wonderful as Walter Mitty, and I can see why he was considered one of the best funnymen of his time.
Not familiar with Virginia Mayo, but she's apparently done alot of movies they show on TCM. I didn't even know Boris Karloff was in this until they showed him onscreen for the first time. He's one of my all time faves.
He wasn't as creepy in this as he is in most of his films, but he did a great job as the doctor/The boots accomplice. Not sure who the guy was that played the main bad guy, but he looked familiar, and was very good.
If you like adventure, and tend to daydream, then you will love this movie.
