Review of The Secret Life of Pets (2016) by Mloy X — 27 Nov 2016
Chloe (Lake Bell): Look Max I'm your friend, OK, and as your friend Ive got to be honest with you I don't care about you or your problems!
This movie was just plain adorable, to say the least; but surprisingly enough, not at all what I expected. I thought it would be more cutesy and whimsical, maybe even a musical number or two but there were some fairly heavy themes in the film too; not saying they were bad, just a little unexpected, is all. The cast did such a great job with their voice acting that after a while I stopped trying to figure out who was voicing what character and just started to enjoy the film. Every character in the film was pretty unique and quite likable but I have to say that Gidget (voiced by Jenny Slate) was my favorite character among the whole ensemble- she funny, feisty and a real go-getter. The bunny rabbit, Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart) was adorable too and so was the tattooed pig. Cute. So, overall, this was a nice family film that the whole family can enjoy.
