Review of The Secret Life of Pets (2016) by Be 2 Cute D — 11 Nov 2016

Another fine animated entry from the creators of the lovable Minions. It is a bit formulaic, with Max and Duke predictably having tensions from the moment they meet, and needing to go on the journey of the film in order to learn to come together. But that doesn't make it any less fun. The voice acting is great, and the characters are fun to be around, each with a quirk or two that plays into the very quirks we see in our pets every day.

Snowball in particular is terrifically funny with his animal liberation movement and mile a minute mind. Kevin Hart makes him stand out among the others, and the more he appears, the better the movie is.

Its simplicity is its greatest strength, and it creates an easy film to go along with. My son is 19 months old, and the bright colors and fun characters kept his attention longer than anything else he has seen up to this point, which surely makes this a perfect kids' movie.
