Review of The Secret Life of Bees (2008) by Roz I — 24 Sep 2009
This is a great, heartwarming and excellently executed film. Great quality movies are few and far between, especially those which explore the breadth and depth of human behavior from absolute evil to selflessness, love and acceptance.
The movie explores the resilience of the human spirit as well as the despair. Overall, this was just a great movie with a tremendous cast. Dakota Fanning should receive an award for her performance. She is growing into a powerful young woman actress.
This child star's light is still shining bright. Queen Latifah exudes compassion and depth of the soul in her character. She is completely believable as the earthmother and protector of this small group of women survivors.
