Review of The Secret Life of Bees (2008) by Jack A — 04 Feb 2010
This movie is choppy, overly sentimental and totally unbelievable emotionally. None of the actors gave a performance worth talking about, except for Dakota Fanning, whose excellent acting talent made the film slightly bare-able.
At points whilst watching this film I found myself thinking more about the film's poor pacing than the story itself, it was un-engaging. Queen Latifah's character was 2 dimensional and unbelievable.
I haven't read the book but I imagine it would be quite engrossing as the story itself has some interesting elements but unfortunately they seem to have sucked all the life out of them in the film.
