Review of The Searchers (1956) by Yin H — 19 Jul 2010
Eden Poly (John Wayne) was a soldier of the Civil War South. After the war three years later, he goes to his brother Aaron. But his family was murdered by the Indians. And his niece Debbie (Natalie Wood) who was kidnapped the Indians. Eden chase the Indians are 5 years. To find his nephew. But Eden is desperate to find his nephew. Because of his nephew to marry an Indian because she became Indian.
I was surprised while watching the movie. Because John Wayne has a scary obsession. And the obsession give to me the tension. But his appearance is far from a hero. He is obsessed with revenge. Therefore, he clearly does not have their own, is ambiguous. Also, Debbie's attitude suddenly changed. This attitude, this film is ambiguous. This film is not a typical hero-pole. Rather close to the anti-hero. However, this movie makes a lot of thinking. So it is a good movie.
