Review of The Searchers (1956) by Jason S — 20 May 2012
Classic John Ford/John Wayne Western. There was a lot of good ol' fashion racism, sexism, and bad acting. John Wayne must have said "that'll be the day" half a dozen times; and at least once I realized the comment made absolutely no sense within the context of the conversation he was having with Jeffrey Hunter's character.
I also enjoyed the constant reminders from the actors that the setting was supposed to be Texas even though the entire movie was clearly shot in Monument Valley (no where near Texas).
