Review of The Searchers (1956) by Dena R — 13 Jun 2012
The Searchers is one of the finest and most beautiful westerns of all time, and is by far John Ford's best film. Its such a beautiful tale of searching, and these two men search for many years for this one girl who was taken by a tribe of indians.
This film has many iconic moments including when John Wayne walks into the sunset after his mission is done, and its all is just so memorable that you can't help but love it. I love the script and the story, and just by the opening scenes we are able to tell that we are about to see a great film.
This is one of John Wayne's greatest roles I think, behind his potrayal of Rooster Cogburn in True Grit. He is tough and persistant, and I love how he never takes any crap from Jeffrey Hunter. The Searchers is a great western and possibly one of the greatest films ever in cinema.
