Review of The Searchers (1956) by President P — 18 Apr 2013
Not bad, not bad indeed. The first hour is exceptional and beyond interesting to watch, however in my opinion the next thirty minutes or so were just long, boring, and slows down the film; I understand its purpose, but I disagree with how it was done.
As usual John Wayne is one badass son of a bitch and leaves everyone else acting in the dust. The writing is alright, again the first hour is great, but the next thirty minutes isn't at all. John Ford and John Wayne together are great together, and for the most part are here as well.
Overall, when the film is long, it's long; however, when it's good, it's damn good.
