Review of The School of Rock (2003) by Logan T — 19 Sep 2014
This is an uncompromising studio comedy that stands differently from other big-budget films in the genre because it doesn't look down on its audience, but instead takes its comic subject matter seriously.
It's not clichéd or stupid, and Jack Black brings a wacky insanity to his performance that's very funny. Richard Linklater never settles for anything other than his own brilliant vision, even when he occasionally dabbles in big studio fare.
