Review of The School for Good and Evil (2022) by Insightspinner — 24 Oct 2022
A cautionary tale in which the fans of a series seeking to uplift a stinker in order to have more time with their beloved characters is just as repugnant as the fans of a series downvoting reimaginings that hit too many cultural missteps for their narrow imaginings. Devotees striving to save trash are just as sad as devotees angered by diverse casting and unwelcome plot divergences. Luckily this is just entertainment and not real life. Oh wait these same folks are also responsible for the real life we're experiencing.
In their defense, "School" fans are just trying to get themselves a series, not as malicious as review bombing, because if they get what they want and come out to watch it, well that's how capitalism works. and I understand that. For the rest of us this film will make sure we don't waste another two and a half hours should any sequels materialize.
