Review of The School for Good and Evil (2022) by Deralac — 21 Oct 2022
The School for Good and Evil is a decent, albeit predictable, coming of age movie about friendship and the nature of evil. The movie depicted evil as narcissistic entitled posers pretending to be good while real goodness is empathy and compassion.
That’s a significant message for these times. The acting ranged from passable to good, although I do expect better from Charlize Theron. She is such a phenomenal actress, but her role in this movie was just acceptable.
I thought both young stars gave believable performances. Most of the characters were stereotypical high school kids which were adequately portrayed. The effects were acceptable. Overall I’m giving this movie a higher rating because I think the message is culturally important rather than for story or acting.
