I decided to watch this movie only after it promised itself to me, and only me. But shortly thereafter I began to feel as though it wasn't being entirely straight with me, and that perhaps it was letting OTHER PEOPLE watch it too! What a whore! I believe the only just punishment would be doing something so that any future "viewers" are only too aware of the film's "easy going" nature and therefore may be less likely to have a go.

Oh, the film itself? According to my research, this film cost roughly $50 million to make, and yet it only managed to take in $10 million while in theaters. I really don't know why. I mean, it's amazing. Forget that the synopsis on here refers to it as an "appalling adaptation." Frankly, I don't know why. So what if the story and the portrayal of the characters have little in common with Hawthorne's book? It's The Scarlet Letter for crying out loud! What's not to love??!! Throw in Robert Duvall's Roger Prynne dancing whilst sporting a deer carcass on his head and some Sirius nudity, and you're set. Some may say that I have an unhealthy obsession with low-quality renditions of classic literary works, but I digress. I believe the term you're looking for is "good taste." I have it, and only someone who lacks it would dislike this film.
