Review of The Scarlet Empress (1934) by Michael D — 19 Mar 2010
A visually dynamic film with sternbergs use of gothic set, oddly proportioned statues of grotesque men lining the walls and expressionist lighting. its less interesting on pretty much every other level, though diestrichs performance is fun at certain moments.
