Ok, so I am a fan of the first Santa Clause movie. In fact, I love it. (very sweet Christmas film that I must watch every year!) I missed the second Santa Clause movie but caught this third one on tv the other night and definitely found myself saying, 'this is not even close to the first one.
' Martin Short was ok, but his character just drove me crazy. The whole turning the North Pole into Canada thing was just cheesy and Spencer Breslin as the new head elf basically, well, sucked. (I miss David Krumholtz as Bernard!) I do think it's pretty cool that they've kept a lot of the original actors from the beginning with these Santa Clause movies, though.
And Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Clause is a nice addition seeing as I love her in the tv shows 'LOST' and 'V.' But, overall, the sweet charm that the first Clause movie had was just lost in this third installment.
I suppose I'm glad to have seen it once, but this won't be a Christmas flick I find myself watching over and over again as I do with the first. Tim Allen, I think it's time to retire the Santa Clause role.
