Just re-watdched this for the umpteenth time. It's one of the movies I watched over and over with my kids --- along with "Beauty and the Beast" and "Home Alone." It's dorky in a baseball way, but, well, the early 60s were dorky.
Even the narrator's initially irritating use of the word "pickle" has become by now endearing. And I just discovered watching the credits tonight that the actor who portrayed the younger Benny is Mike Vitar while the actor who portrayed the older Benny is Pablo Vitar --- his father?
