A spectacular piece of cinematic art. not a film that many will want to make it through, but it is a revelation (like many other of tarkovskys films) to a select few. it will take me a while to connect all the pieces, but this could end up being my favorite of his work.
josephson (of bergman fame) and cast learn that world war 3 has begun, and josephson makes a promise to god to give everything up including family and friends if war can be averted. one of the greatest endings in all of cinema.
