I am a pretty big fan of Ti West (I loved The Innkeepers & House of the Devil) but this movie is a dud. I did not find anything interesting or original about the story, which is basically the retelling of the Jonestown Massacre with different names.
If you're thinking of watching this, I'd recommend just watching a documentary on the real thing.
