An interesting exercise that doesn't quite pan out. The protagonists don't really hold up their end of the movie, especially when compared to the knock-out performance from Gene Jones. Sometimes following the rules of 'found footage' - although in this case not exactly 'found,' but retained - and sometimes not adds to the impression that Ti West may not quite have had this movie under control.
